ADC-F2
ADC-F2 Drywall Access Panel with Fully Detachable Hatch
The ADC-F2 Drywall Access Panel with Fully Detachable Hatch from FF Systems is an access solution for commercial, healthcare, educational, and multi-residential projects across Canada. Designed for non-rated wall and ceiling applications, it provides reliable entry to concealed building systems while maintaining a consistent drywall finish.
Constructed from high-grade welded aluminum, the frame and door are built for long-term durability in demanding interior environments. The flush drywall insert and precise 1/16" reveal help create a clean transition between the panel and surrounding surfaces. It is compatible with both ½" and ⅝" drywall assemblies.
The fully detachable hatch simplifies maintenance by allowing complete removal during servicing. A moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard insert comes standard, supported by a perimeter gasket and a secure, touch-latch system with integrated safety chains. Where required, keyed or cam-operated locks can be specified to control access.

- Full Hatch Removal for Easy Access: The detachable hatch design enables complete removal during servicing, simplifying maintenance of valves, wiring, or ductwork. Reinstallation is straightforward and secure.
- Durable Construction for Demanding Environments: With a standard greenboard insert and integrated gasket, the ADC-F2 performs reliably in spaces with fluctuating humidity.
- Flexible Sizing for Custom Requirements: From small service openings to large custom configurations, the ADC-F2 can be customized to suit a wide range of commercial and institutional applications.
- Optional Security Enhancements: Multiple lock options are available to meet project specifications where controlled access is required.
Installation Steps
- Mark the Location: Choose the installation spot and note nearby studs and joists. Measure the inside frame dimensions, then add ¾" (9 mm) to each side to determine the opening size.
- Cut the Opening: Draw two perpendicular lines on the wall or ceiling, keeping them 1¼"–4" (32–102 mm) from any stud or joist. Verify the lines are square, then cut a clean opening using a drywall saw or utility knife.
- Secure the Panel: Slide the access panel through the opening and pull it back firmly into place. Drive screws through the drywall into the panel frame, spacing them no more than 4" (102 mm) apart.
- Test and Apply the Compound: Test that the door opens correctly, then apply drywall compound separately to the hatch and wall.
- Add the Safety Cables: Install the safety cable, then wipe the frame and door clean with a damp cloth.
When easy access and a refined drywall finish are essential, the ADC-F2 delivers a practical, long-term solution for non-rated assemblies. Its welded aluminum construction, fully detachable hatch, and clean integration make it a reliable choice for commercial and institutional projects.
